Everything You Missed In The ‘Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’ Trailer

Rocksteady Studios has shown of a bombastic new trailer for its upcoming Suicide Squad game, giving us out first look at the Justice League.

Rocksteady first announced ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ at the DC Fandome last year. Since then, fans have been eager to see how a follow up to the Arkham series would work without the titular Batman. Spoiler alert for those who haven’t played Arkham Knight yet, Batman kicks it at the end.

Rocksteady’s answer is to bring in plenty of other Superheroes from the DC universe, although it looks like they’re not quite the heroes we know… As teased in the reveal trailer, much of this new Justice League appears to have been possessed by some sort of purple magic. It’s assumed that’s why the Suicide Squad has been assembled – to take down the Justice League. Give the new trailer a watch for yourself below!

We get even more shots of the evil Superman, smashing his way through Metropolis. The Flash and Green Lantern also show up, as does Wonder Woman, Interestingly, it’s only Superman and The Flash that appear to have been possessed. There’s even a shot later on in the trailer of Wonder Woman having a showdown with Superman himself. Maybe not all of the Justice League will be enemies in this new game.

Another curious detail is that we catch a glimpse of a new Batmobile careering through the city. It looks way more low tech than the tank we loved from Arkham Knight. It features the bat signal from the top of the GCPD building as one huge headlight. But with Batman gone, who could be driving such a vehicle? Colour me extremely curious!

It’s a Direct Sequel To The Arkham Games

This new trailer had plenty to keep fans of the Arkham games happy. Several callbacks confirm that this new Suicide Squad game is a direct continuation of the Arkham universe, with or without Batman. The opening few shots are a like-for-like cut of the opening to Arkham Asylum when Batman brings in the Joker. Eagle-eyed fans will also notice that the room in which the four Squad members are held is the same room in which Batman has his first brawl in the first game.

And that’s not all. We see Harley utilise Batman’s grapple gun at one point in the trailer, and King Shark certainly suits the Riddler’s hat when he dons it. Several characters also appear to be returning from the Arkham games. We can catch a brief glimpse of Poison Ivy’s vines at around 2:08 in the trailer. The Penguin also features prominently towards the end, appearing to be under Amanda Waller’s control. It’s definitely the same Penguin from the previous games – who could forget that grotesque smashed bottle that he uses for a monocle?

That’s about everything important that we noticed from the latest Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League trailer. Sadly, we weren’t treated to any news of a concrete release date. It’s currently scheduled for release in 2022 as a new-gen exclusive. That’s for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
