“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan”, better known as the Borat sequel, is getting an extended edition featuring never-before-seen footage.
The announcement was made via the official Borat Twitter account, which features an in-character description of the Amazon Prime exclusive extended edition, entitled “Borat Supplemental Reportings”:
“In historic bi-lateral trade agreement Kazakhstan have provide Amazon Corporation with 63 minute extra moviefilm footages in exchange for 2 year Prime membership and 134 Amazon Basics AAA battery with shared use of charger with Kyrgystan”
Thankfully, Borat’s cryptic tweet is also accompanied by an official trailer, which features some previously unreleased footage. The trailer ends on a character breaking note as Sasha Baron Cohen reacts to protestors approaching the production team’s van. Dressed in overalls and a fake beard, Baron Cohen tells the crew, “Go, go, go. Go! Just keep going. If you stop, you’re going to be in a violent situation”.
Previously, Baron Cohen told Variety that there wouldn’t be another Borat movie, much to the dismay of fans:
“I brought Borat out because of Trump. There was a purpose to this movie, and I don’t really see the purpose to doing it again. So yeah, he’s locked away in the cupboard.”
While Borat’s retirement seems to be imminent, at least fans will be able to enjoy an extended version of the faux journalist’s latest film. The original version of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm launched exclusively on Amazon Prime last year due to the closure of cinemas in response to the pandemic.
The extended version of the film also appears to be an Amazon Prime exclusive, so you’ll need to sign up to the streaming service if you want to catch it.
It’s worth mentioning that new Amazon Prime users are eligible for a 30-day free trial. Therefore, Borat fans should be able to watch the new film for free when it comes to Prime Video.
