A new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has dropped, and with it comes the surprising reveal that Byleth is the main villain.
When Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was revealed earlier this year, there were a lot of questions about what the game would be like. One of the big ones was what role Byleth would have, as they were quite absent from the first trailer. But now, the new Mysterious Mercenary trailer has revealed that the Three Houses protagonist will be the main antagonist.
Not only that, we learned the name of the new purple haired character, Shez. Like in Three Houses, you can choose the gender of Shez, and they seem to be less of a silent protagonist than Byleth.
A few new playable characters were shown off, including Hubert, Hilda, and Dedue, the right hands of each of the house leaders. While the Warriors games are traditionally hack-and-slash, it looks like some tactics elements will be present in the game. The trailer shows you will be able to command characters around the field to perform specific tasks. There’s also a new form of attack called Partner Specials, which is a super attack between two characters.
There’s also a base camp that players will be able to explore, with the ability to train with allies. It also looks like that at the very least, Shez will be able to choose from different classes. This could mean that every character might return, with similar movesets based on the different classes. And like in Three Houses, there will be multiple routes to choose from.
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is out exclusively on Nintendo Switch, June 24.
