Super Nintendo World is the world’s first Mario theme park, and it’s been in the works for a pretty long time now. We know a little bit about what we can expect, and we saw some VERY cool-looking mock-ups for the park, but we now finally have our first glimpse at it IRL.
A series of photos straight outta Universal Studios Japan have revealed a first-look at the theme park, and it’s just what our inner children were begging for.
As spotted by GoNintendo, the following images were shared to Twitter with the caption: “SUPER NINTENDO WORLD ™ is under construction behind JAWS Ride and will open in the spring of 2020.”
In the images a very traditional-looking Mario build can be seen, complete with cloud detailing and – of course – the ever-iconic flagpole.
It’s only a snippet, but Super Nintendo World can already shut up and take my money even in its current form.
We don’t know all the details on Super Nintendo World just yet, but we do know it’ll be opening in Universal Studios Japan in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Two rides have already been confirmed: Super Mario Kart Ride, and Yoshi’s Adventures.
Earlier this summer we got to see some leaked concept art of the park. Hopefully it won’t have changed too much from these plans, because this is going to be one helluva theme park for Nintendo fans!
As shared to Facebook by The Unofficial Universal Orlando Podcast [via Twitter’s Wario64], the images show concepts from 2016, and seemingly show off the Mushroom Kingdom and Donkey Kong island.
From what we can see in the photos, this looks seriously impressive, in fact, the House of Mouse is probably shaking in its boots at the sight of these!
