Its journey may have taken more than 10 years but we’re finally close to the release of Sony’s next epic. Thanks to a recent tweet, we now have new teaser images from the set of the Uncharted movie to snack on while we finish the rest of this long journey.
In the tweet made by the movie’s official Twitter account, we were given four images in total, along with the caption “A new year. A new adventure awaits.”
Two of these images have been posted previously by video game actor Nolan North (the keys and the map), while the other two appear to be fresh.
The tweet was met with the response of hundreds of fans, eager to get their teeth into this long-awaited video game adaptation. Amongst these fans was games writer and former Funhaus member Alanah Pearce, who replied with something a lot of us were probably secretly thinking: “Oh cool I love Tomb Raider.”
In case you’re out the loop, the Uncharted movie features Spider-Man’s Tom Holland as the series’ plundering protagonist, alongside Mark Wahlberg as his wise companion. The film itself has had something of a wild ride in terms of development, with numerous directors dropping in and out the project over the last 10 years.
Originally scheduled to arrive in March 2021, the film was pushed back to October due to the escalating situation with the global pandemic.
Uncharted joins a whole host of films delayed by Sony, including Ghostbusters: The Afterlife and the Marvel movie Morbius [via Deadline].
It’s been a tough year for fans of the big screen, but with any luck, things will begin to return to normal in time for Uncharted washing into shores near you.
In other news, Sony stated that the likes of projects like Uncharted and HBO’s The Last of Us TV series were “Just the beginning”. If you’re a PlayStation fan, buckle up for a wild ride!
