Fortnite’s sixth season is keeping fans coming back for more, and today the latest patch (and first patch for the season) – version 6.01 – came out.
The update has added some pretty nice things, including the Chiller, a freeze trap that will cause your opponents to slip and slide around on a patch of ice.
The Chiller was first uncovered by data miners a couple of weeks ago, and now it’s finally live for your trapping pleasure.
Looks like Freeze Traps will be coming to the game!

Showing off a nice little video in its patch notes, Epic writes: “Don’t get cold feet! Freeze your foes and slide around for a quick getaway.”
Epic goes on to confirm that the Chiller is a common trap and it can be placed on floors, walls and ceilings. It’ll drop in stacks of 3 in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, Supply Llamas, and floor loot.
It will apply “icy feet to friends or foes, causing them to slide around with low friction.”
Nice!
Along with the freeze traps for Battle Royale mode, there’s also been a whole host of fixes and additions. Excitingly, more updates have been added to customise your experience in Playground Mode, allowing you to “change settings such as starting health, time of day, gravity, and more!”
Save The World fans haven’t been left out either, as a brand-new weapon – the Lead Sled Hammer – has been added into the game.
There’s also the typical bug fixes we usually see from Epic.
