Fortnite’s Latest Patch Notes are about Save the World Being Free to Play

As we all know Fortnite has dominated the gaming world over the past few months and doesn’t show signs of stopping after showing off its incredible amount of players in August alone. Most of those players are playing the free to play battle royale game mode that Fortnite is known for. Many of those players are also interested in the tower defence-esk zombie shooting game mode that is called ‘Save the World’.

The Save the World game mode is currently not free but when Fortnite was released a spokesperson for Epic Games went on record and said that Save the World will be free when Fortnite leaves early access.

Here is the update from Epic Games about when we can expect to see Save the World as a free to play game.

We decided to move the free-to-play launch of Save the World out of this year. We’re working on a broad set of features, reworks, and backend system scaling we believe are needed to go free-to-play. Save the World has grown consistently since our launch in July 2017 and Fortnite overall has experienced unprecedented growth. Scaling up for the legions of player heroes who will be joining the fight is key to providing an excellent experience. This applies to all of our players, old and new, so we’re taking the time to get this right.

To thank our founders, both new and old, if you log in and play during the Fortnitemares Event, you’ll receive both Brainiac Jonesy and Skull Ranger Ramirez for free!

For those of you who want to start playing right now, we’ve got you. Starting this week, we’ll be hosting a 50% off sale for the Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe and Limited Founder’s packs.

This is sad news for the players who want to play Save the World but don’t want to pay full price for the game mode. Many people have already spent a large amount on the cosmetic items and battle pass that the battle royale mode has to offer so therefore can’t bring themselves to spend another $39.99 on the game.

Some fans welcome the delay to Save the World saying that it needs the delay to be able to support all the people who are playing it.

However some people just want to get their hands on the game and play it as soon as they can.

Are you going to wait until Save the World is free or will you be picking it up this year?
