After nearly 3,200 hours of play-time, a pet fish belonging to YouTuber Mutekimaru has cleared Game Boy Advance title Pokémon Sapphire in its entirety.

The pet fish clearing Pokémon Sapphire was a result of an experiment which saw the fish beat Hoenn champion Steven Stone during its epic conclusion.

To be honest, the experiment wasn’t down to a single fish but rather four pet fish of the same species all of which are called Maurice. So I suppose it was the same fish, kinda?

The experiment was conducted via the use of a command board and in-game moves were determined as the fish made its way around inside of the fish tank.

The epic gameplay action ran for a number of months with a camera tracking the fish movements which then translated the commands into a Nintendo GameCube.

Pokémon Sapphire was playable on the Nintendo GameCube by using a Game Boy Player which makes GBA cartridges playable on the GameCube.

Sadly the owners of the YouTube missed the game being cleared live because the selfish fish beat Pokémon Sapphire while they were sleeping, which is very inconsiderate.

The owners of the Mutekimaru channel have expressed that they plan on continuing similar experiments in the future.

However adjustments will be made to alter the pace of the gameplay due to the recording of 3,200 hours being both physically and mentally taxing.

Also it is worth mentioning that no fish were harmed or lost their lives during this experiment.
