Twitter account @CanYouPetTheDog has been making waves on social media for its dedication to making sure gamers know which games have pettable dogs and which don’t.
This honourable cause has seen the account blow up, and at the time of writing the account has nearly 160 thousand followers.

However, it seems CanYouPetTheDog isn’t just here to tell us about dogs – it’s also here to encourage game developers to make their dogs pettable.
Following a backlash from fans, indie hit Enter the Gungeon has actually updated its game to include optional dog petting thanks to the CanYouPetTheDog Twitter, and players are seriously impressed.

One gamer responded to the update saying: “I instantly launched Steam to reinstall the game on my pc, finally playable.”

Another said what we’re all thinking: “You’re making real change in the world, @CanYouPetTheDog.”

If you’re curious to know which games allow you to pet the good bois and gals of the four-legged world you can follow @CanYouPetTheDog right here.

And if you’re a game developer, please note that CanYouPetTheDog’s rules are pretty strict. The Twitter account description reads: “A catalog of pettable and non-pettable dogs in video games. Manual input resulting in visual representation of petting is required for affirmation.”
If you can’t pet the dog, is the game even worth playing? Potentially, but not likely, is my answer. Make all dogs pettable!
