Game Freak Responds To Fan Outcry For Pokémon Snap 2

Pokémon Snap is one of the best games you’re probably too young to have played, but it’s a much-loved classic for us old folks.

The classic 1999 title, which originally launched on the Nintendo 64, was a typical on-rail shooter, except you were shooting pics of your favourite Pokémon.

You’d have to use various tricks and tips to get the best shots of the pocket monsters, which were then graded with points as prizes. There weren’t that many creatures to snap photos of unfortunately, and the whole game could be completed in just a couple of hours – and that’s if you took your time with it.

The game was so insanely popular that it actually ended up on the Virtual Consoles for both the Wii and the Wii U, showing that Nintendo clearly knows there’s a market for the game.

Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda recently spoke to GameCentral about the possibility of a sequel to Pokémon Snap, but it doesn’t look too hopeful for fans of the game.

“All I can say is that I don’t think we can just make the same thing again,” responded Masuda when asked about a Pokémon Snap 2. “So we’d have to come up with a very unique twist on this if we do make another one.”

So it’s not looking too hopeful, unfortunately.

That being said, with the likes of Nintendo Labo, the Nintendo 3DS and – of course – the Nintendo Switch, plus smart phones and tablets, there’s surely a hundred and one ways to make Pokémon Snap 2 a completely different and fun title…right?

Maybe cross it off your most-wanted games list for now though, as it seems we won’t be getting Pokémon Snap 2 anytime soon.

Now we just need to hear some more on a The Simpsons: Hit and Run game!
