As we all know, the final season of Game of Thrones is set to air next month, and it’s been one cold hard slog through but Winter has finally nearly come. Hooray!
Naturally, the cast and crew are under oath (under both the Old Gods and the new) to keep everything as quiet as possible so as not to spoil everything we’ve been waiting the best part of a decade for, but we do know one thing for certain: we’re going to see one of the biggest, baddest and most-brutal battles we’ve ever seen on television (but not in cinema, because even if Jon and Daenerys swoop in on their dragons and Tyrion drunkenly slays the Night King himself, nothing could possibly be more epic than the Battle of Helm’s Deep from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, IMHO).
Before you go thinking that GoT can’t possible do any better than the battles we’ve already survived through in the previous seven seasons, you might want to check yourself, because we’re getting one whole episode devoted purely to an insane war.
Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, teased: “rumour has it, it’s 90 minutes long”. Yikes!
Confirmed by EW, almost all of the main Game of Thrones characters will duke it out against the Night King and his army. Finally.
According to EW, 750 cast and crew members worked for 11 whole weeks in freezing-cold conditions to get the battle just right, and if the rumours are true, it’s going to be something seriously special.
As for who’s going to end up on the Iron Throne, that’s something we’ll have to continue waiting for…
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air on HBO, starting April 14 2019. It’s time to get excited!
