The recent stock market drama involving GameStop is being made into two different movies, because of course it is.

Last week was a crazy week in the stock market when groups of Redditors joined forces to buy shares in GameStop, causing havoc to professional stock market brokers.
The group of Redditors worked together to inflate shares of GameStop, AMC Theatres, Nokia and various other big companies, almost to the verge of bankruptcy.
Many compared the actions of the Reddit groups to Robin Hood as they used the wealthy stockbrokers’ own tactics against them.

It’s an ongoing situation filled with many twists and turns, and it’s taken the world by storm. The drama has become so notable that two separate movies based upon the events are now being made.
According to Deadline, one movie will be made by MGM and the other will be made by Netflix.

The first movie will be based upon the idea of a book, with MGM buying the rights to Ben Mezrich’s proposal for The Antisocial Network. Mezrich is the author of The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook: A Tale of Sex, Money and Betrayal, which was adapted into the movie The Social Network.
Michael DeLuca was a producer on The Social Network with David Fincher, and DeLuca will work on the GameStop stock market movie for MGM, along with the Winklevoss twins who will produce.

The second movie (which is coming to Netflix) will reportedly have Mark Boal (Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty) writing the script and Noah Centineo has been confirmed to be a lead actor in the movie. Centineo is already set to star as He-Man/Prince Adam in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie.
