According to an industry insider, it seems that Gears of War is getting the Halo Master Chief Collection treatment.
If this story sounds familiar, there’s a good reason. Back in January this year, rumours started floating around that Gears of War, as well as Fable, will be given a Master Chief Collection presentation.
As reported by VGC, the rumours are once again courtesy of video game journalist and host of the Xbox Era podcast, Nick “Shpeshal” Baker. However, now he’s offered further clarification on the speculation.
“A while back I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment, I am of the belief that that is coming this year,” said Baker on a recent episode of his podcast.
We’d love to see a Gears Collection
“Everyone has guessed it,” added Baker, “if you go from November 2021 to November 2022 and you look at Microsoft’s big game output, it could wind up being Halo, Gears, Forza,” before confirming the Gears of War franchise would be Microsoft’s next collection.
Furthermore, a source had previously told VGC that The Coalition is currently developing the next Gears of War game. Whether that’s the rumoured collection, a spin-off or Gears 6, remains to be seen.
Personally, I would love to see Gears of War receive the Halo Master Chief Collection treatment. It has plenty of games to make for worthy content, and it will be fun to see what custom playlists The Coalition would produce. It will also be great to earn some new Gears of War achievements.
