Ghost Of Tsushima Box Art Sparks Speculation Over Potential PC Release

Sony has recently removed the “Only on PlayStation” branding from the box art of Ghost of Tsushima. Could the game be set for a PC release? Well, perhaps. However, this box art change isn’t what you might think.

Like most PlayStation games, Ghost of Tsushima is a Sony platform exclusive. While this traditionally means that a game is exclusive to PlayStation hardware, Sony has been toying with the idea of occupying PC storefronts. This is something that Sony’s Jim Ryan expressed previously in an interview with GQ, following the successful PC release of Horizon: Zero Dawn [via Dualshockers]:

“We assessed the exercise in two ways. Firstly, in terms of the straightforward success of the activity of publishing the game on PC, people liked it and they bought it. We also looked at it through the lens of what the PlayStation community thought about it. There was no massive adverse reaction to it. So we will continue to take mission steps in this direction.”

Is Ghost of Tsushima Coming to PC?

Since then, Sony has gone on to release the PS4 exclusive Days Gone on Steam and the Epic Game Store. However, thanks to a recent discovery by Reddit user Dinov_, fans were starting to suspect that Ghost of Tsushima could be next in Sony’s PC pipeline.

Sadly, while the Reddit users findings seemed promising at first, it turns out that the actual physical copies of Ghost of Tsushima still bear the original “Only on PlayStation” logo. Therefore, the discovered box art could likely be part of a possible rebranding. That being said, there’s still plenty of evidence to suggest that Ghost of Tsushima could still be coming to PC.

Of course, while Ghost of Tsushima new box art added fuel to the rumour fire, speculation was originally sparked by a Twitter user named “CrazyLeaksOnAtRain”, who claimed various games, including Ghost of Tsushima, were heading to PC.

It’s needless to say that CrazyLeaksTrain’s claims require some ratification. However, they do tie in with recent findings on the PlayStation Studios Steam page. According to Sony’s Steam Curator page, the company has 41 products listed on the storefront. However, it turns out that only 24 of those games and DLC items are actually visible on Steam. This means that, in theory, Sony has 17 “products” listed on Steam that haven’t been released or announced. That’s a lot of potential PS4 PC ports!

So, the big question is, will Ghost of Tsushima come to PC in the future? Well, potentially! While the game’s new box art isn’t actually an indication of its future on PC, there’s plenty of info that suggests it could happen. All we can do right now is hang tight, take rumours with a grain of salt and wait for Sony to announce the game’s PC debut officially.
