Ghost Of Tsushima Is Getting Co-Op Multiplayer Mode

Sony has confirmed that its mega-hit Ghost of Tsushima is set to get its own co-op multiplayer mode, free for those who own the game.

Entitled “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends,” the mode will be heavily focused on the mystical creatures of Japanese folklore, and will definitely be a lot more fantastical than the main game itself.

Announcing the news on the Sony blog, Senior Game Designer at Sucker Punch Productions Darren Bridges explains that the mode won’t be a continuation of Jin’s story, but “instead focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima.”

He adds: “Legends is haunting and fantastical, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology and an emphasis on cooperative combat and action.”

Legends will see groups of two to four players team up either with friends or via online matchmaking. You’ll be able to choose from one of four different character classes: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin, with abilities and skills to be revealed later.

Bridges explains: “With two players in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you’ll be able to play a series of co-op Story missions that escalate in difficulty, building on the foundation of combat from the single-player campaign but with new magical twists that often require careful synchronization with your partner.

“With four players, you’ll be able to take on wave-based Survival missions, fighting groups of the toughest enemies Tsushima has to offer, Including new Oni enemies with supernatural abilities.”

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is expected to launch later this year (though as always with 2020 releases, don’t hold your breath on that one just in case). You can find out more about the upcoming game mode over on the official Sony blog here.
