Ghost Of Tsushima Multiplayer Is Now A Standalone Release

The multiplayer mode for Ghost of Tsushima, known as ‘Legends’ mode, is finally available to purchase as a standalone release.

Ghost of Tsushima recently saw a Director’s Cut release for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The new version brought PS5 specific upgrades to the fan-favourite 2019 title, along with a totally new expansion pack.

This wasn’t the first piece of DLC content to arrive in Ghost of Tsushima, though. Legends Mode is a co-op experience that was released in October of 2020, three months after the game was originally released. At the time, it was considered a free update to the game, becoming a part of the game for any player that owned a copy. Now, it’s possible to purchase the co-op mode separately without needing the standard version of Ghost of Tsushima.

It’s worth noting that this separate download doesn’t provide any additional content over the Legends mode included in the base game. All of the same missions are available to play – players just won’t have access to some of the cosmetic items that are unlocked during the single player campaign.

How do you download it?

To download the separate mode, you’ll need to purchase it from the PlayStation Store. It’s listed as £15.99 on there, which is a fair chunk less than the £69.99 that the Directors Cut goes for.

The standalone version of Legends is compatible with the standard versions of the game, too. That means if one player just owns a copy of Legends, they can still play with friends who own the full version of Ghost of Tsushima. The mode is cross-platform, too. Players on PS4 and PS5 are able to connect with each other across the generations.

With this standalone release, the co-op mode sees the addition of a competitive versus mode. In this game mode, two teams of two will attempt to wipe out waves of enemies in the fastest time. The team to complete all of the waves and ring a bell will win.

It’s great to see some of Ghost of Tsushima’s best features made more accessible, especially given the hefty price tag of the new Directors Cut. Will you be picking up the standalone version of Legends mode? Let us know across our social channels.
