Fans were not happy to see Frontline.

Ghost Recon Frontline Beta Postponed Indefinitely Following Backlash

Last week, Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline and didn’t get the response that the publisher had hoped.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline was Ubisoft’s take on the battle royale formula. A 102-player grand scale war with teams of 3 battling it out on the “dynamic Drakemoor Island.”

However, as I am sure you’re aware, the battle royale genre is getting tiresome, to say the least, and it’s fair to say that Ghost Recon Frontline wasn’t welcomed with open arms.

As it stands at the time of writing, the Ghost Recon Frontline reveal trailer has over 4,000 Likes but over 17,000 Dislikes. Yikes! So yeah, fans let it be known that they are not happy with the direction in which this tactical shooter is heading.

With the announcement of Ghost Recon Frontline was the closed beta. This closed beta which was set to run between October 14th to the 21st was PC only and was restricted to Europe. However, following fan backlash towards Ghost Recon Frontline, Ubisoft has postponed the closed beta indefinitely.

When will we see Ghost Recon Frontline again?

In a statement posted on Twitter, Ubisoft said: “We have decided it is best to postpone the Closed Test for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline. The development team is dedicated to creating the best experience possible.

We’ll share details on the new date for the Closed Test as soon as we can. Thank you for your ongoing support.

As you can see, no reason was given for the postponement. But it’s probably safe to assume that the overwhelmingly negative response played some part in Ubisoft making the decision.

Do you want Ghost Recon Frontline to return?

As a fan of the series, it’s a shame (but understandable) that fans were annoyed with Ghost Recon jumping on the late battle royale bandwagon. No doubt Ghost Recon Frontline will be back. I just hope that the series will one day return to its tactical roots. Well, at least Advanced Warfighter 2 is backwards compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
