Ghostwire: Tokyo Gets A Spooky New Trailer At The PlayStation Showcase

At the PlayStation Showcase, we were treated to a spooky new trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo. Sadly, however, we still have no release date.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is being developed by Tango Gameworks. The studio was founded by the master of survival horror, Shinji Mikami. Tango Gameworks is also the studio responsible for The Evil Within series.

While Ghostwire: Tokyo looks to have supernatural horror elements with an emphasis on action, I think it will be far removed from the kind of horror seen in The Evil Within. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, in Ghostwire: Tokyo: “a mysterious fog descends upon Tokyo, causing nearly all the city’s population to vanish.

As an enigmatic masked group takes responsibility, you’re left with nothing but questions and waves of supernatural Visitors to contend with. Explore the haunted city and hone your own ethereal abilities as you face the unknown and uncover the truth in Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Furthermore, Ghostwire: Tokyo will also be inspired by: “Japanese legends, folklore, and tales, The Visitors are striking, imaginative enemies that lurk throughout Tokyo.

Developed for a new generation

Ghostwire: Tokyo will be a PC and PlayStation 5 exclusive, as a result, it will take advantage of new-gen technology. Such as “near-zero loading times” and ray tracing.

For the PS5, it will also utilise 3D audio and the capabilities of the DualSense controller. So, expect built-in audio, and support for the controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

At this time, we do not have a release date for Ghostwire: Tokyo, but the press release states that it will release for PC and PS5 in spring 2022.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that Ghostwire: Tokyo is a Bethesda published title, so there’s every chance that it should release for the Xbox Series X|S at some point. However, at this time we do not know when that might be.
