The latest official Formula 1 game from Codemasters, F1 2021, is free to play all weekend ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.
It’s been one hell of a ride this week in the world of F1. With Valtteri Bottas going to Alfa Romeo, George Russell to Mercedes, and Alex Albon making a return to the sport – driver market news has dominated the headlines. All of this is in the middle of a triple-header, a consecutive three weeks of racing that concludes this weekend at the Italian GP in Monza.
The excitement is a lot to handle, so what better way to channel it than into the official F1 video game for this year. Released earlier this summer, we praised the game for its decent single player campaign and excellent racing mechanics. Slight inaccuracies with the 2021 season let it down slightly, but that’s mostly down to the volatile nature of the sport given the ongoing pandemic. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s a benchmark title for the adrenaline pumping sport.
Here’s how you can download it
If you’d like to try the game for yourself, you’re in luck. It’s currently free to try right now. Starting from right now (Friday, September 10th) until Sunday (September 12th). It doesn’t matter which platform you’re on, either. The free trial is accessible on Xbox platforms as well as the PS4 and PS5. Just head to the respective console stores to find the free trial download. PC players can also try the game for free on Steam, where they’ll also find a neat 25% discount on the full version.
The free trial gives players access to everything within the game. That includes the Braking Point campaign mode, which with a runtime of roughly 6-7 hours can be played well within the trial’s time limit. There’s also the co-op campaign modes, online play, and custom races to get to grips with.
With the Italian GP set to kick off this weekend, it’s the perfect time to jump into the F1 games. The tracks are all recreated with laser precision. Doing a couple of virtual laps can really help you get your bearings while watching the real racers fight for positions on Sunday.
