It's not coming next year.

Grand Theft Auto Actor Hints At GTA 6 Release Date

If it’s not a supposed leak surrounding Bully 2, it’s a leak about GTA 6, and that’s just what we’ve gotten again. This time around though it’s a rumour with a little more meat on it than usual, and it’s definitely got our attention.

The leak stems from actor Steven Ogg, who you might recognise from shows like The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Westworld, and a little-known video game called Grand Theft Auto 5.

Ogg, who played the one and only Trevor Phillips in GTA 5, recently opened up during Brazil Game Show, where he reportedly told the audience that the next instalment in the series is coming “soon.”

Sure, “soon” is an incredibly vague thing to say, but he also went on to add something very interesting, saying that Rockstar Games’ bigger games take around seven to eight years to make. He then said: “Do the math.”

GTA 5 released back in 2013, so seven or eight years from then means we might be looking at a 2020 or 20201 release window for GTA 6. Some folks have pointed out that Rockstar’s last big game, Red Dead Redemption 2, didn’t launch until 2018, which might put GTA 6 lightyears into the future, maybe around 2026.

The problem with that thinking though, is that not only will we have next-gen consoles by then, but we’ll also probably have next-next-gen consoles, and how can you develop a game for a console that’s probably going to be able to sync to your flying car and be consumable through a chip in your head?

We’ll just have to wait for some sort of confirmation from Rockstar Games as to when the next Grand Theft Auto will be coming out, but honestly, I’m happy for them to take their time and give us one of the best games ever.
