GTA Online Updates Will Focus More On Single Player Gameplay

Rockstar North design director Scott Butchard has revealed that future content updates for GTA Online will have more single player elements.

While you can play GTA Online on your lonesome, many of the content updates have had a heavy focus on multiplayer, such as performing heists with a team. However not everyone has friends that actively play GTA Online on a regular basis and many might not feel comfortable chancing it with a team of randoms.

“It’s something that’s been on our minds for quite some time and the community has been vocal about it,” said Butchard a recent interview with GQ Magazine.  “It’s something we’re keen to carry forward.

When talking of player choice Butchard continued: “We want to respect teams and players who want to play co-op. But at the same time still allow solo players to still get just as valid an experience out of it. There’s perks to both.

If you go in there by yourself, you’re taking 100 per cent of the cut and it’s a lot easier to do stealth and plan when you’re not on comms. With multiple players you can split up and do multiple things at once,” added the Rockstar developer.

Looking further into the future in regards to forthcoming GTA Online content, Butchard said: “I think going forward we’re going to inject more of that single-player element in there”.

When the “biggest GTA Online adventure ever” released earlier this month in the form of The Cayo Perico Heist, many fans were pleased to know that this huge content update catered for the single player as well as multiplayer.

In The Cayo Perico Heist, players are taken to a private exotic island where they are tasked with robbing a ruthless drug lord by the name of El Rubio. Whether you play this content solo or in a team, that’s entirely up to you.

Giving the players the choice of going solo or with pals has gone down rather well with the GTA Online community and it’s good to see this is something that Rockstar Games will continue to explore.

Do you like the prospect of future GTA Online content also being catered for the single player?  It’s probably the best we’ll get as we’re never likely to get that proper expansion to the single player campaign of GTA V.
