The next addition to the incredible Halo franchise is coming later this year but we still know next to nothing about the game. Thankfully, the gods at 343 Industries have blessed our social media feeds with a teaser trailer for Halo Infinite, and it’s revealed some brand-new details on the next plans for Master Chief.

Unlike most teaser trailers, the new material is pretty much audio-only, but it does give us all a hint at what we can expect to see in Halo Infinite. In case you missed it, you can watch in its entirety below.
As you can see (hear?), it looks as though we might be getting ready to meet “The Banished,” a faction of which the speaker claims to be a part of. Veteran Halo fans should find that name familiar, as The Banished first appeared in Halo Wars 2, the real-time strategy spin-off of the franchise.

If you’re not familiar with the game, all you really need to know (without spoilers) is that The Banished are bad news. They’re basically a group of aliens, consisting of Covenant races who abandoned the Prophets.
Although we don’t know too much about their role within Halo Infinite, it’s definitely cool to see the spin-off games getting some love in a mainline title!

Halo Infinite will be launching alongside the Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s next-gen console, which is dropping sometime in Holiday 2020. Expect more on the game before then though, as it’s been confirmed that a dedicated online event is coming in July.
On the official Halo Waypoint blog, 343 Industries confirmed: “You may have seen people talking about this lightly before, but we’re extremely excited to confirm that Halo Infinite will be one of many first-party titles included in the Xbox 20/20 event in July. Get ready.”
