Here are 18 minutes of glorious Dead Space remake gameplay featuring the opening moments of the sci-fi horror classic.
The original Dead Space was developed by Visceral Games led by Striking Distance Studios chief, Glen Schofield. Sadly, however, EA decided to close Visceral in 2017. Thankfully, the spirit of Dead space not only lives in The Callisto Protocol but also in the forthcoming remake.
Dead Space is looking glorious in 4K/60fps
The Dead Space remake gameplay is courtesy of IGN First. It features the opening moments of Isaac Clark as well as his unfortunate crew members’ arrival on the USG Ishimura.
Upon boarding the planet cracker, it soon becomes apparent that the station is infested with mutated creatures known as Necromorphs.
What’s more, the 18-minute gameplay looks gorgeous at a crisp 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second, running on PC. To be fair, I’m currently playing through the original Dead Space of 2008 and it still holds up remarkably well. However, after watching this gameplay video, the modern-day improvements are clear to see.
Sadly, it does seem that some of the original voice actors haven’t returned for the remake. Gunnar Wright (Isaac Clark), has returned.
Unfortunately, Tonantzin Carmelo (Kendra Daniels) and Peter Mensah (Sgt. Zach Hammond) have not reprised their roles. I think Peter Mensah will be the most noticeable exclusion, as his voice is very distinct.
Don’t worry about spoilers
The Dead Space remake is pretty much a play-by-play recreation of the original game, with some changes to keep players on their toes. So, if you’re already familiar with Dead Space, you won’t have to worry about spoilers.
That being said, if you’re new to this series and want to go in totally fresh, you might want to avoid watching the opening 18 minutes. Either way, I think we’re going to have a terrifying blast with this modern remake.
When is the Dead Space remake release date?
The Dead Space remake will be released on January 27th, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Sadly, there is no last-gen release. However, you can play what is considered to be the spiritual successor, The Callisto Protocol which is out now on last and current-gen systems.
