Elden Ring has new free DLC available now

Elden Ring is getting its heavily rumoured Colosseum PvP multiplayer DLC and it’s available today. Best of all, it’s totally free!

Back in March 2022, out-of-bounds hacker and modder Lance McDonald traversed once more beyond the walls discovering an area in the Lands Between that seemed primed for PvP multiplayer action.

We can’t wait to enter the Elden Ring Colosseum

It felt odd that a large building such as the Colosseum would be in Elden Ring, but would seemingly have no use. Most of us assumed that this was an area to one day visit. However, we didn’t know for % sure. Thankfully, thanks to the shenanigans of Lance McDonald, we got an early taste of what might come to be.

FromSoftware has now officially confirmed that the Colosseum will be home to epic PvP multiplayer action. What’s more, it was assumed that this content would arrive via paid DLC, and I’m sure many would have been happy with that. However, this content arrives today via a free Elden Ring update.

Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum,” reads the tweet announcing the news. “Prove your worth in various duels and battles, together or on your own in the free Colosseum Update.

Where can the Colosseum be found?

Each of the three Colosseums will have versions of various modes. The Limgrave Colosseum will feature:

  • United Combat: combatants will be divided into two teams to fight in timed battles with the ability to respawn. Each death and respawn grants points to the adversaries, offering victory to the team with the higher score.
  • Combat Ordeal:  it’s every Tarnished for themselves. Combatants in this mode can also respawn until the timer hits zero, and the one with the most points will prevail as the victor.

Whereas the Royal Colosseum in Leyndell will feature Duel Mode in which: “two Tarnished face off in a duel to the death, without the ability to respawn.

While the Caelid Colosseum features all previously mentioned modes, players will be able to summon Spirit Ashes. Oh and the free update also brings five new hairstyles for your character.

Could more Elden Ring DLC be on the way?

Will the Colosseum be the only piece of DLC for Elden Ring? Not if you believe previous reports. In July 2022, a data leak suggested that DLC called “Barbarian of the Badlands” could be inbound. Furthermore, another data leak hinted at the arrival of new bosses and dungeons.
