A basic Netflix with ads cheapest tier has been announced which will run adverts during your favourite shows and movies.
Earlier in the year, rumblings were making the rounds that Netflix will offer a cheaper subscription tier with adverts thrown into programming. Well, those rumours have now been officially confirmed and the cheaper tier arrives next month.
How much is the cheapest Netflix tier with ads?
The cheapest subscription tier called “Basic with Adverts” will cost £4.99/$6.99 USD.
How does this tier compare to other prices?
In total, Netflix will soon offer four subscription tiers and they are as followed:
- Basic with Adverts: £4.99/$6.99 (1 device at a time/no downloads/720p)
- Basic: £6.99/$9.99 (1 device at a time/download to 1 supported device/720p)
- Standard: £10.99/$15.49 (2 devices at one time/download to 2 supported devices/1080p)
- Premium: £15.99/$19.99 (4 devices at one time/download to 4 supported devices/ 4K UHD)
When will the Basic with Adverts tier go live?
The Basic with Adverts tier will go live on November 3rd, 2022.
Which countries will have the Netflix with ads tier?
On November 3rd, a total of 12 countries will have the Basic with Adverts tier. Those countries include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK as well as the US. Netflix has promised that more countries will be added at later dates.
How many adverts will there be?
Netflix has stated that there will be an average of 4 to 5 minutes worth of adverts per hour. These adverts will run on series as well as movies.
Furthermore, at launch, some programs won’t be available on the Basic with Adverts tier due to licensing restrictions. However, Netflix is working to resolve that issue.
How long do the adverts run for?
Adverts will run for around 15 to 30 seconds before and during programming. Netflix also ensures that adverts will be consistent with the product that you are watching.
