It’s been a couple of months since we saw a big sneak peek at the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy game, and it looks like the open world map is absolutely massive.
However, amidst all the new features and scenes announced, it can be easy to miss one or two major things revealed by Warner Bros. Games as it readies up for a launch later this year.
In a video released by Warner Bros. Games back in March, it’s possible we’ve received our first look at Hogwarts Legacy’s open world map. The video, titled ‘Hogwarts Legacy – Official Behind the Scenes’ features developers from Avalanche Software discussing the making of the game.
A concept art image of an open world segment of the game was subtly added into the middle of the video. It’s a real ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment, but offers some insight into the environments we’ll be exploring outside of the school grounds.

“When it comes to the open world, we just knew it wasn’t going to be enough to just stare out of the windows of Hogwarts and wonder what it’s like out there,” Alan Tew, game director of Hogwarts Legacy said in the video.
“But the final question that fans ask is ‘What’s beyond that?’ ‘What’s beyond the Forbidden Forest? What’s gonna be beyond Hogsmeade?’ ‘What’s beyond the black lake If I start traveling south?’ and we just felt like we had to answer those questions. We are creating a real wide pallet of opportunities and ways to explore the world.”
Of course, this is just concept art and is subject to massive changes. It’s likely that more areas could be added, while others are removed. But it’s good to know that Avalanche is considering more areas outside of Hogwarts to include. After all, the Wizarding World is so large!
