Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. The news was confirmed by Ryan Reynolds across his social media channels on Tuesday 27 September.

Furthermore, now that Disney owns pretty much everything, it has been revealed that Wolverine and Deadpool will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reynolds announced the Jackman/Wolverine news during a typically sarcastic comedy video, entitled ‘Deadpool Update’.

Deadpool and Wolverine are getting together!

The last time we saw Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was in the fantastic 2017 film Logan.

Also starring Patrick Stewart, Logan told a tale of an older Wolverine in what was considered to be quite a gritty drama.

Logan also ended quite definitively for the sharp-clawed Marvel mascot. However, despite the Logan conclusion, it hasn’t stopped fans from wanting to see Wolverine in the MCU. Though it is also worth keeping in mind that Logan is set in 2029, long after Deadpool 3.

Previously, Jackman has seemingly shown little interest in reprising his role as Wolverine following the release of Logan. Though, it seems like we may have been played all along.

Age is only a number

Some have questioned whether Jackman may be too old to return as Wolverine.

However, the actor is not only in the kind of shape many of us can only dream of but just about anything is possible with Disney’s de-ageing technology.

For example, did you see how young Michael Douglas looked in the flashback sequences in the Ant-Man movies?

Daniel Radcliffe Fan-Casted as Wolverine

Some corners of the internet have also been calling for Harry Potter actor, Daniel Radcliffe to be the new Wolverine. Sure, Radcliffe would make for an accurate Wolverine in terms of height.

That being said, on chemistry and charisma alone, Jackman’s Wolverine and Reynolds’ Deadpool is a massive win for fans.

But maybe we will see Radcliffe taking on the Wolverine role at some time in the not-so-distant future?

When will Deadpool 3 be released?

At the end of the “Update” video by Ryan Reynolds featuring a brief cameo from Hugh Jackman, it was revealed that Deadpool 3 will arrive in cinemas on September 6th, 2024.
