Insider Claims Netflix Has Renewed The Witcher For Three Seasons

Netflix’s The Witcher hasn’t even released yet, but rumour says that the upcoming series has already been granted a three-season run by the streaming giants.

Redanian Intelligence, a fan site for all things The Witcher and a source that’s accurately leaked information in the past, drew attention to a tweet from an insider with a “proven track record” who suggests that multiple seasons are planned.

Twitter user KC Walsh, who apparently has ties to the Netflix project, responded to a query saying: “I’ve heard it got the Sabrina deal and is already re-upped for 3 seasons.”

Although there’s no official word on the legitimacy of the claim, we’ve heard several times about the show’s “first season” wrapping up, suggesting there’s almost definitely going to be more than just the one.

Hopefully that means that the series has actually turned out pretty good, despite the bad track record for video-game-to-movie adaptation.

Don’t forget that The Witcher began life as a series of novels before the CD Projekt Red games released, so maybe it’ll be able to evade the video game movie curse…?

The upcoming show’s official premise reads: “Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

“But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”

The show will star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.

Although there’s no concrete release date for Netflix’s The Witcher series, the company has confirmed it’ll be releasing in Q4, giving it a window of anywhere from October 2019.
