A remaster of the sci-fi horror series Dead Space could be on the cards, according to hints dropped by Window Central’s Jez Corden.
The Dead Space series has been dormant for a while now, despite its popularity. However, thanks to a recent interaction between Xbox Era host Nick Baker and Jez Corden of Windows Central, it seems like something Dead Space related might be in the works [via Comicbook].
Before we go any further, it’s worth mentioning that a Dead Space comeback hasn’t been officially confirmed. In fact, at the moment, our hopes for a Dead Space revival hinge on it being secretly in the pipeline.
So, you might be wondering how all this sci-fi speculation came to be? Well, it all started with Nick Baker expressing his desires for more Dead Space on Twitter:
“You know, the more I’ve been thinking about it, the more I think Dead Space has a chance of coming back in some way. Whether via Remasters or a sequel. Or hopefully both.”
In response to Baker, Jez Corden replied a not so subtle, sarcasm fueled statement:
“That WOULD BE PRETTY COOL WOULDN’T IT NICK?
You know. If it was ACTUALLY HAPPENING MAYBE? That would be PRETTY COOL.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but it seems like Corden might know something we don’t. In addition, the sarcastic nature of Corden’s Tweet suggests that Nick Baker is simply being coy. As you probably already know, industry insiders often know of projects before they officially release. While non-disclosure agreements usually bind individuals and publications to secrecy, subtle hints are sometimes used to circumvent legal implications.
So, again, while this Twitter interaction is far from an official confirmation, it gives us a glimmer of hope. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see something Dead Space related at this year’s E3. Of course, there’s also a chance that we could hear more about the future of Dead Space at EA’s Play conference on July 22nd.
With the success of it would definitely make sense for EA to look at other PS3/Xbox 360 franchises they can bring back in a similar fashion.
