One of the mostly controversial topics surrounding popular television series is when they should come to an end. Should a series end at its height, to leave viewers wanting more? Or is it better to do what The Simpsons is doing and keep on churning out the episodes? For fans of dark comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the latter of those options is looking more likely than ever, which is hopefully great news.
It’s Always Sunny wrapped up its 14th season last year and there’s yet to be any confirmation on a Season 15. However, the show’s co-creator Rob McElhenney is ready, willing and able to jump straight back into the series, promising that as long as we keep watching, they’ll keep making it.
During the Television Critics Association press tour, McElhenney explained [via IGN]: “It takes us about five months to make a season of Sunny, we have that period of our lives carved out just for that. And yes, we’re gonna keep doing it forever, as long as people keep watching it.”
We might not have too long to wait on news of Season 15. Speaking to Deadline, FX top dog John Landgraf recently opened up about the 15th season of It’s Always Sunny, confirming that talks are underway to get it signed off.
While we wait to hear more about a new slew of episodes, the show’s 14th season is now available to binge on Netflix. Understandably, the internet is pretty happy about the news.
It’s Always Sunny Season 14 originally premiered in September of last year, after a 13th and 14th season were confirmed in April 2016. Even if we find out we will get It’s Always Sunny Season 15, don’t expect it anytime soon.
