It’s Looking Unlikely That We’ll Ever Get Another Prince Of Persia Game

The Prince of Persia games were once one of the most popular video game series imaginable, but they’ve sadly dwindled into oblivion over the last few years, despite a Hollywood movie adaptation and new title in 2010.

The series started up way back when in 1989, but its last console release was nearly a decade ago now. Though the game still has a home on mobile devices, it seems as though PoP is a AAA series just waiting to happen.

The games are still an iconic part of video game history, and they’re definitely a part that’s been sorely missed, but it seems we’re probably going to have to say goodbye to our dreams of a new PoP game for console.

Last year, model, TV host and known game fanatic Chrissy Teigen decided to question the future of the series over on Twitter, where her comment just so happened to catch the eye of Prince of Persia creator, Jordan Mechner.

“Is Prince of Persia still around? I loved that game,” tweeted Teigen.

Mechner responded saying: “Chrissy, I know a few other people who feel the same way. We’re doing our best to make it happen!”

“Best to make it happen”, huh? Well…it’s been nearly a year and a half since that comment, and it looks like there’s been no movements to make a new PoP happen.

Prince of Persia‘s publishing rights now lie with Ubisoft, who definitely has the means to create a seriously impressive historical masterpiece. Just look at the Assassin’s Creed series!

Unfortunately, all’s been quiet on the development of a new Prince of Persia, and with more than 12 months passing since Mechner’s exciting words, it’s looking less and less likely that a new game will be on the cards.

Whether or not a new Prince of Persia for console will ever see the light of day remains to be seen, but with such big names pulling strings in the background, we can only hope for the best!
