Superhero films. Remember them? There have been limited releases of them in theatre this year due to COVID-19. In fact, for the first time in years, Marvel won’t be releasing the highest-grossing superhero film and neither will DC. That probably doesn’t worry DC too much though as they have their eyes set on another prize. The Snyder Cut.
When Justice League released it was not met with the fanfare people expected. It wasn’t a full-on flop and still did quite well at the box office but, due to a change of director in production, people didn’t get to see the original vision.
For the last few years, people complained and demanded the Snyder Cut of Justice League. The opportunity for the original director, Zack Snyder, to show the world his vision. After all the Justice League should’ve been an easy home run. A chance to showcase some of the most beloved superheroes in the world. Unfortunately, it struck out and many thought that was it.
Cue HBO stepping in earlier this year to allow Zack Snyder to release his cut of the film on HBO Max. We don’t know much about it so far apart from the fact that reshoots are happening and a lot of money is being pumped in to make the film closer to Snyder’s vision.
Jared Leto’s Joker Returns in the justice league snyder cut
Reported on by The Hollywood Reporter it seems that one of these reshoots will see a controversial character return. Jared Leto’s Joker.
It may excite some to see The Joker in Justice League. Many won’t be happy to see it be the return of Leto’s Joker though. His take on the character was not one that won over a lot of fans when he appeared in Suicide Squad.
It seems that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is shaping up to be a very different film to the original cut, which does beg the question… how different will this new version be? The Joker didn’t appear in the original release of Justice League at all. Will he be the only new character inclusion in reshoots? We can’t wait to find out!
