Voice actor Jennifer Hale seemingly revealed that she wants to reprise her role as Samus in Metroid Prime for the Nintendo Switch.
Jennifer Hale is one of the most respected voice actors in the video games industry. Hale is perhaps more known as being the voice of the female Commander Shepard in Mass Effect. However, she is more than just FemShep. Just check out her IMDB, prolific isn’t the word!
Another role that Hale is known for is being the voice of Samus Aran in the Metroid Prime trilogy. For years we’ve heard rumours that a Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster is on the way, the most recent reports being only yesterday.
So, with rumours recently making the rounds that a Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster is on the way, Hale responded to a tweet saying: “Ok, when do we start?” The tweet was in response to an article published by Nintendo Life.
Could hale return?
I find it interesting that Hale would reply to a story regarding the remastered trilogy. If recent reports are to be believed, the remaster is already developed and is good to go. If that is the case, it’s likely that Hale hasn’t been contacted, which might mean that the trilogy remaster could be a straight-up port.
However, just because it’s possible that Hale hasn’t recorded any new lines of dialogue for the trilogy remaster, it doesn’t mean that she cannot voice Samus in Metroid Prime 4.
Metroid Prime 4 was first announced at E3 2017, but pretty much since then, we have heard little about the title. The most recent official news came in January 2019, when Nintendo announced that they will no longer be developing Metroid Prime 4 in-house, and would pass over development to Retro Studios.
So, with that said, it may be too late for Hale to record new dialogue for the rumoured Metroid Prime Trilogy remaster, but it might not be too late for Metroid Prime 4.
