It’s been confirmed that everyone’s favourite dog-vengeance-seeking hero, John Wick, will be making a return in a fifth movie. John Wick 5 has been officially announced by Lionsgate, where it’s been revealed that the movie will film back-to-back with the fourth instalment.
As reported by Deadline, Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer expects John Wick 4 to be ready for release during Memorial Day weekend in 2022, despite potential global pandemic-related delays.
“We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theaters Memorial Day weekend 2022,” Feltheimer said during an earnings call.

“We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back-to-back when Keanu becomes available early next year,” he added, confirming that the movies will still indeed star the one and only Keanu Reeves.
As for the John Wick spin-off TV series, we’re all still pretty much in the dark. The last official update on The Continental came in January, before the worst of the coronavirus hit.

Speaking with the Television Critics Association at the time, Starz President and CEO, Jeffrey Hirsch confirmed the series is still happening, saying: “I had a meeting on a season pitch for this yesterday. We like the group of writers, and we’re trying to get it in the right place so it doesn’t interfere with the motion picture. It will air sometime after the fourth movie.”

Not too much is known about the upcoming show right now, but it’s been said that the series will serve as a prequel to the movies, and will explore the assassin-friendly Continental Hotel. It’s not yet been confirmed whether or not the series will feature Mr. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves.
Let’s hope the global pandemic hasn’t put the brakes on this one.
