In my restless dreams I see that franchise: Silent Hill. I was promised I’d be taken there again someday, but that didn’t bloody well happen did it. Ever since the whole Silent Hills/Hideo Kojima/Konami split, the beloved survival horror franchise has been as dead as a sink fetus and it’s not looking like it’s going to change anytime soon.
As reported by WeGotThisCovered, it seems Konami has not only given up on its ownership of website domain name SilentHill.com, but it’s actually now up for sale for a mere $10,000 USD. It spells nothing but bad news for longstanding fans of the classic franchise.
Thankfully, it seems Hideo Kojima, who was set to revive the Silent Hill series before splitting from Konami, might still be able to make something of a spiritual successor to the games.
Kojima recently revealed that he plans to make a horror game following Death Stranding.
Obviously, when it comes to this particular developer, it’s not just any horror game. Kojima revealed that he wants it to be the ‘scariest’. Which, following his Playable Teaser for the now-cancelled Silent Hills, is probably within his grasp.
He recently tweeted: “As to make the scariest horror game, I’ll watch the scary movies in order to awaken my horror soul. THE EYE is the Thai horror movie I rent when making PT but was too scary to finish watching. The package is scary so I rented the disc only. Will I be able to finish watching?”
Fans quickly began replying to his Tweet, with one saying: “I’m so excited to see literally whatever content your studio puts out next lol. I don’t care what platform, or genre it is- just get it done so I can have my mind blown again lmao”,
Another added: “This’ll probably be one of the best horror games since the Silent Hill series if it gets made.”
I’d love to see Kojima somehow get back onto an SH project, but the rights now lie with Konami.
