Valve has released a new trailer for the first Left 4 Dead 2 update in close to a decade.

The new update is entitled ‘The Last Stand,’ and is a community-created update which the official seal of approval from the Left 4 Dead top dogs. It’s believed the title is in reference to a lighthouse-themed level which was previously only available in the original Left 4 Dead game.
Announcing the news of the update on its blog last month, Valve teased The Last Stand with a cryptic description leaving much to the imagination.

“It has been many years since the infection first hit,” writes Valve. “Radio silence, no sign of life, nothing but lingering hopes… CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! A few brave souls have continued the fight against all odds, and soon we can all benefit from their resilience.
““The Last Stand” is an update for Left 4 Dead 2, created by the community, for the community. Additional details will be coming soon.”

According to developer JAiZ, the game update will introduce a brand-new campaign for players to sink their teeth into. As of yet, we don’t know when the new content will be released.
The last time Left 4 Dead 2 received an update was back in 2012, when Valve gave the green light to another L4D2 fan project, officially making it canon. Whether or not this is now going to be how the game will continue to run in the future remains to be seen, but it’s a great way to keep the community happy in lieu of another Left 4 Dead title.
