LEGO and popular culture have always gelled well and any avid collector will know already just how many LEGO sets are out there that are based on film or television shows. But the video game world has never truly transcended into the structured building environment. Now, Super Mario will be making the jump into the brick world.
The LEGO games have become loved across the world for the various platforms they can be found on. Popular classics include the LEGO Avengers series and the always popular LEGO Star Wars games. But now Mario is doing the opposite. He is leaving the video game world and becoming a LEGO creation.
The Super Mario collection launches on August 1and will contain three exclusive sets. $60 Adventures with Mario Starter Course, along with the recently announced $30 Piranha Plant Power Slide and $100 Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle expansions.
One odd thing to note is that if you want to get your hands on an actual Mario LEGO character, you have to get the Adventures with Mario Starter Kit, he is physically not available to obtain in the other packs or on his own. The Piranha Plant Power Slide, the least expensive of all the sets, is a see-saw you can attach your Mario figure onto and it allows him to slide back and forth between two Piranha Plants.
Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle set is the priciest of the bunch, totaling in at $100. It has got all different ways of using the set for interactive play thanks to a bunch of hidden sensors that can be activated by the Mario figure.
The collection goes live in August, with pre-orders now available for the Mario Starter Course at the official Lego Super Mario website.
