Lost Ark Launch Delayed Due To Server Deployment Issues

Lost Ark has been delayed mere minutes before its Steam launch was due to occur, as has been revealed in a tweet from the official account.

Lost Ark’s free-to-play Steam launch was due to occur at 5PM today, but server deployment issues has seen the game delayed by at least a few hours.

At 4:46PM GMT, the official Lost Ark Twitter account posted the following: “Unfortunately, due to deployment issues, launch is delayed. We hope to have this resolved in a matter of hours. Your patience is appreciated and we’ll update you soon.

NOT ENTIRELY UNEXPECTED

This isn’t entirely unexpected, considering the game’s newfound popularity that happened earlier this week. Just a few days prior, Lost Ark had caused server issues at Steam that meant players were reporting slow download times.

Those who had bought the Lost Ark Founders Pack could play the game early before its free-to-play release, but some players reported being stuck in infinite loading screens. So they couldn’t access the game at all.

These issues aren’t unheard of for online games, especially for an MMO. Players can explode in numbers, meaning more resources are needed to meet the server capacity. When this can’t be done in time, it results in crashes, loading issues, and even game delays.

Smilegate hopes the server issues will only take a few hours to resolve, so hopefully players who were looking forward to playing this weekend can still log in and start their Lost Ark adventure.
