Mario Golf: Super Rush Final Update Adds Shy Guy, Wiggler, And More

Version 4.0 of Mario Golf: Super Rush, the final free update, is out now, and adds Shy Guy, Wiggler, new courses, and new modes.

Nintendo have shared the patch notes for the 4.0 Mario Golf: Super Rush update, and it’s got plenty to offer. Wiggler is a new character to the game, who is a power-type character. If he uses a Special Shot, or is attacked, he becomes enraged. This means his ball flight distance increases by 1.1, and in Speed Golf, his running distance and Special Dash speed goes up by 1.25 times.

Shy Guy has also been added as an all-round character. His Special Dash brings in Fly Guys to keep him flying until the gauge runs out.

courses and more galore

Also added to the game are two new courses. Shelltop Sanctuary is composed entirely of short holes, all of them being Par 3. The other course, All-Star Summit, is designed to look like all of the main Mario cast.

On top of this, two new modes have been added to the game. Target Golf lets players compete to shoot their balls at a circular target, trying to get the highest score. The closer to the middle you get, the more points you get. And in the other new Solo Score Challenge mode, One-On, One-Putt, players need to hit the green on the first swing, and then into the cup on the second. The update also included a variety of balance adjustments.

It’s great to see Nintendo continuously update the game since its release. It marks a change of pace compared to Super Mario Party, which bemusingly didn’t receive any major updates. While it’s sad this will be the last update, they’ve added a lot to the game for free since launch. Nintendo does a lot wrong, but recently free updates is something they’re doing right.
