As the PlayStation 5 becomes more of a reality than ever, PS players are looking towards some of the games we’ll hopefully be getting on the next-gen system. Of the absolute classic PS4 exclusives, Marvel’s Spider-Man is definitely a stand-out gem, and though unconfirmed by Insomniac Games, a sequel is almost definitely in the works.
According to a new Spider-Man rumour spotted on Reddit, a sequel could be coming sooner than we might have thought, with the leaker claiming the title could be dropping as early as 2021.
Of course, the leak needs to be taken with a pinch of salt until we hear confirmation, but it’s an interesting claim nonetheless.
The leaker – who claims to know an anonymous source at Insomniac – says that the sequel will be taking place shortly after the first game, and will be set during winter. It’s also suggested that the world will be even bigger, expanding to Queens and Brooklyn.
The leak goes on to say that the game’s main villains will be Venom, Carnage and Mysterio, with a story focus on Harry Osbourne.
Miles Morales is reportedly making a comeback – this time as a playable character for some segments of the game – though the leak adds that Insomniac is “unsure whether to let the player free roam as him.”
There’s also been some updates to the wonderful web-slinging mechanic (allegedly), with a new “web-chain” feature, animations and swing modes. These swing modes are said to be Realistic, Arcade and Hybrid.
Hopefully we’ll hear from Sony or Insomniac soon regarding these rumours. I don’t know about you, but I’m more than ready for a new dose of Spidey!
The PlayStation 5 is due to land on store shelves sometime during the Holiday period 2020.
