Microsoft could be acquiring Ubisoft in the coming months, that’s at least according to a recent report. If true, this could be huge!
Ubisoft is one of the biggest video game companies on the planet. It is the home of franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, as well as Rainbow Six, and more.
However, according to a report from Bloomberg, Ubisoft could be the next video game company to be bought out by Microsoft. It is claimed that private equity firms are “already studying” the industry giant.
Could Ubisoft really be next?
That being said, Bloomberg’s sources claim “Ubisoft hasn’t entered into any serious negotiations with potential acquirers, and it’s unclear whether its major shareholder is willing to pursue a deal.”
Furthermore, according to Kotaku, former Ubisoft developers have apparently told the media outlet that the company will “eventually sell to someone amid a flagging stock price and ongoing struggles.”
Kotaku’s sources also state that Ubisoft has been “working closely with several outside consultancy firms” in recent years as part of a business audit.
Obviously, at this time, these rumours are unconfirmed, so we must take them with a pinch of salt at this time. Do you believe that Microsoft will acquire Ubisoft next? Let us know on Twitter.
