The teaser trailer for the upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom’s Monster Hunter has leaked online, and it’s definitely a movie.
Starring veteran video game movie star Milla Jovovich (the Resident Evil franchise, The Fifth Element) and Ron Perlman, the film is due to release next year.

Although the official trailer (or teaser trailer) has yet to be publicly released, somebody’s managed to nab a recording on their phone from from the 2019 Shanghai International Film Festival, and it’s of course made its way to social media.
Check out the leaked teaser below.
In the interest of fairness, this is obviously a very low resolution phone recording, and it’s also a very short teaser, so let’s not judge it right off the bat.
That being said, the internet’s reaction to the leak is a little underwhelming. There’s nothing specifically wrong with it per se, but there’s nothing particularly jaw dropping about it.

On Twitter, one underwhelmed viewer said: “The teaser trailer for MONSTER HUNTER has leaked and boy howdy does it look like a movie that will exist eventually.”
Another described it as looking “okay.”
Another followed up with a similar sentiment, saying: “The leaked Monster Hunter movie trailer looks…ehh…”
One viewer did say the leak looks definitely like Monster Hunter, which is probably a good thing.
The Monster Hunter movie’s official premise reads as follows: “When Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers. Feature film based on the video game by Capcom.”

At the time of writing, Capcom has yet to respond to the leak.
Could the Monster Hunter movie be a resounding video game movie hit? Only time will tell!
