Blankmediagames has revealed that something wicked is coming to Town of Salem later this week.
Town of Salem is a game that is similar to the likes of Among Us, setting players against each other in a game of duplicity and treachery. Developed by Blankmediagames, the game features a cartoony depiction of colonial Massachusetts.
Here’s a back-of-the-box synopsis of the game and its features:
“Town of Salem is a browser-based game that challenges players on their ability to convincingly lie as well as detect when other players are lying. The game ranges from 7 to 15 players. These players are randomly divided into alignments – Town, Mafia, Serial Killers, Arsonists and Neutrals.
“If you are a Town member (the good guys) you must track down the Mafia and other villains before they kill you. The catch? You don’t know who is a Town member and who is a villain. If you are an evil role, such as a Serial Killer, you secretly murder town members in the veil of night and try to avoid getting caught.”
Blankmediagames made the announcement on Twitter in the form of an ominous statement.
The post contains an image of various silhouettes, along with the line “Something Traitorous is brewing in Salem…”. The picture’s shadowy figures appear to be new or reworked character roles, potentially resembling werewolves and witches.
Fans on Twitter are trying to figure out what the silhouettes may be, which has lead to both confusion and excitement.
The announcement is set to be made this Friday, so it won’t be long until we know what Blankmediagames is up to. If you’ve not tried Town of Salem yet, the game is available on Steam, iOS and Android. You can also play the game online via an internet browser.
