Nearly A Million Game Of Thrones Fans Sign Petition To Re-Do Season 8

Let’s be honest, the current and final season of Game of Thrones really isn’t living up to the hype we were expecting it to.

Of course, it’s easy to understand how the whole world’s expectations are hard to fulfil. The GoT creators have been under a whole heap of pressure to deliver something truly special for the show’s eighth and final season, or to be more accurate, they’ve been under pressure to deliver something that’s probably not even humanly possible.

WARNING: Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 ‘The Bells’ ahead.

Unfortunately, the penultimate episode of the entire show, ‘The Bells,’ has quickly become the worst-rated episode in the show’s history. Season eight’s strong start has been dwindling, with each episode getting lower Rotten Tomatoes scores than the one before it.

Online, fans are sounding off about how the season has “ruined” the show, accusing the writers of taking “lazy” shortcuts and disappointing its millions of viewers.

Now the inevitable has happened, because this is 2019, and change.org solves everything.

Yes, someone has launched a petition asking HBO to remake the entire final season.

“[Showrunners] David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” says the change.org petition.

“This series deserves a final season that makes sense.”

Shockingly, the petition has reached nearly a million supporters, with the total figure sitting at 809,182 at the time of writing.

Unfortunately, a remake would be shockingly difficult, not to mention expensive. And we’ll all know how they planned it to end, which won’t make an alternative ending any better really.

How do you feel about Game of Thrones‘ final season? Is it a yay or a nay for Westeros and its few remaining inhabitants?
