It’s really happening: a new Fable has been officially confirmed by Xbox. The news was announced during Xbox’s Games Showcase after some speculation earlier today.
In case you missed it, check out the official reveal below!
Could the new Fable game be an MMO?
The description for the video reads as follows: “Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.”
A couple of industry insiders teased the likelihood of a new Fable game announcement and/or trailer just hours before the official announcement. Thankfully, there was no leak this time around.
Video games data analyst and known source of leaks, Daniel Ahmad, took to Twitter to discuss the Series X event before it aired, making interesting use of the word “fabled.”
He tweeted: “Xbox will hold its Games Showcase tomorrow to show off the latest titles coming to the platform. I think it’ll be a good show overall if you’re a fan of Xbox Game Studios. No matter if you’re an avowed Xbox fan or a fabled Xbox fan, it’ll be good.”
Another comment from industry insider Klobrille on Resetera also raised suspicion. In a thread about the event, Klobrille said they believe an in-game trailer could happen, but denounced the notion of any gameplay demos.
They said: “Just to get that expectation right, I don’t think anyone should expect a Fable announcement with a gameplay demo like what Halo Infinite will do.

“I guess this will rather be in the Horizon II-trailer-like ballpark, so an in-engine trailer but somewhat indicative of what to expect.”
