Sony has officially unveiled two brand-new colours for the PS5 DualSense controller, Cosmic Red and Midnight Black.
Up until now, the PS5 was only available with a white controller, matching the console itself. The first two coloured versions of the DualSense are a pretty slick-looking black (“Midnight Black”), and a very snazzy red (“Cosmic Red”). Check them out in the tweet below!
Over on the official PlayStation blog, Sony goes into more detail about the new DualSense colours.
“We’re thrilled to introduce two new colors that will be joining the DualSense controller lineup starting next month: Midnight Black and Cosmic Red,” says the blog.
“Midnight Black features two subtly different shades of black with light grey detailing to reflect how we view space through the night sky, and Cosmic Red offers a striking black and red design inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos.“
Unlike the PS5 itself, DualSense controllers have been fairly easy to find both in-store and online. Hopefully the same will be true of both the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red controllers, though Sony has yet to confirm the duo’s release date.
“This new lineup of colors will be available at participating retailers globally starting next month. The exact date will vary by location, so check your local retailers for availability,” says the Sony blog.
It’s still unclear whether or not the PS5 itself will be available in different colours anytime soon. Fans are eagerly awaiting news of a black version, with the PS5 being the first non-black console Sony has had at launch for many years.
