According to a recent report, the God of War sequel that is coming to PS5 has apparently been delayed.
The new God of War was announced at State of Play in September 2020, and even though a release date has yet to be revealed, the game was announced as having a 2021 release window.
Unfortunately, according to reliable Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the new God of War may have already been delayed internally, which is perhaps why news on the game has gone quiet.
Schreier was asked on Twitter by a follower if he knew when God of War might be coming and announced publicly.
“I think it was delayed months ago and will be formally announced whenever they next talk about it,” said Schreier.
At this time, the reports of the God of War sequel being internally delayed have not been confirmed by Sony or Santa Monica Studio. However, Schreier’s word is about as reliable as it gets in the world of video game journalism.
While it might be disappointing that we’ll likely have to wait longer than expected for the next God of War, it’s difficult for me to be overly sad about a game that’s never had an official release date.
In February this year, Head of PlayStation Herman Hulst expressed his excitement for the new God of War, and said that he couldn’t wait for players to see the game.
“Playing God of War in 2018 was a great experience for me,” said Hulst. “So to see and hear the reaction to that tiny glimpse we unveiled at the PlayStation Showcase last September was very exciting. I can’t wait for people to see what Santa Monica is making.”
