Another Walking Dead game has been announced, but this time it might actually be good.
Yes, Overkill’s The Walking Dead didn’t actually make it to launch before it got canned, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no market for a TWD game. Just look at Telltale and Skybound’s success!
The world is ready for a good Walking Dead game, and it could be The Walking Dead: Onslaught, a nearly-announced TWD title which is set to show more of the AMC show’s characters.
The likes of Rick Grimes and Michonne will be showing up in Onslaught, an upcoming VR game for PlayStation.
Developed by Survios, the official description for the title reads: “Fight your fears head-on in The Walking Dead Onslaught, the official VR game of AMC’s The Walking Dead.
“From AMC and Survios, the studio behind top-selling VR titles Raw Data and Creed: Rise to Glory, The Walking Dead Onslaught invites players to assume the roles of their favorite survivors from the TV series, struggling against the relentless walker threat while confronting both the horrors and humanity of this apocalyptic world.”

Although the faces might seem familiar to fans of the show, it’s not yet been confirmed whether or not the OG actors will be reprising their roles for the game.
Survios promises “exclusive original story, visceral real-motion melee and ranged combat, player progression and a full campaign mode,” but TWD seems to be a notoriously hard IP to bring to the video game market.
2013’s The Walking Dead Survival Instinct failed to impress when it launch at the height of the show’s success, and Overkill’s The Walking Dead was cancelled just a few months ago.
Telltale Games seemed to have the most success with the IP, following the comics rather than the show. Unfortunately, the studio closed last year, with Skybound swooping in to make sure that protagonist Clementine got an end to her story.
Will Survios fare better with The Walking Dead: Onslaught? Here’s hoping!
