Next Tetris 99 Maximus Cup Will Be Skyward Sword Themed

The next Tetris 99 Maximus Cup event will be The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword-themed. Better still, you can also unlock an exclusive theme!

Tetris 99 is a battle royale Tetris game. On paper, it shouldn’t work, but in my opinion, it’s one of my favourite games on the Nintendo Switch. Tetris 99 is a free-to-play game as long as you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

When will the Maximus Cup take place?

This will be the 23rd Maximus Cup event and it will take place this weekend. The event will celebrate the recent release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on the Nintendo Switch.

The Skyward Sword Maximus Cup will begin on Friday, August 6th, and will end on Monday, August 9th.

How can I unlock the exclusive Skyward Sword HD theme for Tetris 99?

To unlock The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD theme is quite simple. All you must do is earn 100 points over the weekend playing Tetris 99. Overall, it should take you no longer than an hour (at best) to earn 100 points.

By finishing last you will earn 5 points and if you win, you will get 100 points straight away. As long as you do not finish last 20 times in a row, you will be unlocking that theme in no time!

What happens if I miss the event or don’t earn 100 points?

If for whatever reason you are unable to unlock the Skyward Sword HD theme by playing Tetris 99, you can buy the theme for 30 tickets (in-game currency).
