Have you ever wanted to kick SpongeBob SquarePants in the teeth as Nigel Thornberry? Well, now you can, thanks to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a new Smash Bros inspired fighter with a cartoon twist.
Announced exclusively through IGN and developed by Ludosity (Slap City, Space Hunk), Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is fuelled by ’90s nostalgia. Featuring familiar faces from across the Nick Verse, this game is a cartoon lover’s dream game. Here’s a short, back of the box synopsis for the upcoming brawler:
“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a new platform fighting game featuring fan-favourite Nickelodeon characters. Its roster includes familiar faces from SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Danny Phantom, Hey Arnold!, Invader Zim, The Loud House, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and more.
“Nickelodeon’s new fighting game will feature 20 themed levels, such as Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants and TMNT’s Technodrome. It’ll also release with both singleplayer and multiplayer game modes, allowing you to put your skills to the test in competitive matches online, and local multiplayer for up to four players.”
If you’ve got fond memories of watching Saturday morning cartoons, or just a soft spot for weird fighting games, then you should probably check out Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. While it probably won’t steal any limelight from Nintendo’s beat-em-up, perhaps this new brawler will carve out its own niche within the genre.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch later this year. Have you got a favourite Nickelodeon character? Let us know on our social media channels. Let’s hope CatDog joins the fold!
